 What is a Fishing Education Weekend?  A Fishing Education Weekend is a 4-day event combining workshops, seminars, on the water information sharing, meals, friendship and more in a family friendly environment designed to help anglers learn new techniques, new waters, learn hard core fishing information and make new friends.

This is he first time this event will be in New York.

Trips are held several times a year at different locations to maximize learning opportunities every season.

Who is Lance Valentine?

 Great question. Lance is a former tournament walleye fisherman turned fishing educator, full time guide and Instructional DVD producer. Lance and his Walleye 101 organization have a tremendous following throughout the Midwest. He spends a significant part of each season teaching walleye fishing techniques at seminars and boat shows. Lance also guides on numerous bodies of water and has a custom line of educational DVD's and walleye fishing tackle.

What is included in my registration?

Your registration fee includes 

  • Three Days of Classroom Education, on-the-water instruction & sharing of information  
  • Three nights of Lodging at the Econo Lodge, Fredonia, NY 
  • Three nights of Catered Dinner 
  • Three mornings of Catered Breakfast 
  • Boat launch or dock fees at Holiday Harbor at Chadwick Bay Marina

How do I register?

How do I buy my fishing license?

A New York State fishing license is required if you are 16 years or older.  You can purchase a 1-day license for $5.00 ($10.00 for non-residents), a 7-day license for $12.00 ($28 for non-residents) or an annual license for $25.00 - age 16-69 or $5.00 - over 70 ($50 for non-residents).  The license can be purchased on the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation website or in person at various locations in NY.

What species of fish will be focused on?

The seminars will focus on walleye but many techniques can be used for lake trout.


Eastern Lake Erie is know for trophy walleye, lake trout and bass.

Do I need a boat to attend?

We have a limited number of spots available for "non boaters". You will be matched up with a "boater" if they have available seating. You are expected to pay for a fair share of all boating expenses.  There may be seminars during the day if you choose to stay on land.
